Created by Charles Akroyd in 1875, the Akroyd fast became the most popular and successful pattern used on the River Dee, and still stands the test of time to this day.
It is thought a key to its success is down to the black and yellow colour combination of this fly, a popular choice amongst many Salmon patterns.
