About the Crippled Mayfly Trout Fly
A Crippled Mayfly is an easy and tasty meal, trapped and unable to fly away. Trout are opportunistic predators and presenting a fly that looks like easy prey can be devastatingly effective.
A cripple mayfly represents an unsuccessful attempt by the mayfly nymph to emerge from its case. Some of the emergers get stuck in the surface film, others are injured, whilst others have been capsized by the wind or breeze.
