About the Lime Fluo Buzzer Trout Fly
The Lime Fluo Buzzer is a high-visibility stillwater buzzer that really comes into its own when trout are feeding on chironomid pupae and you need a fly they can actually see. That vibrant lime/fluoro trigger gives fish a focal point to lock onto, while the slim buzzer profile keeps it firmly in the 'natural food' category rather than a full-on lure.
The fly cuts rapidly through the surface film and gets to fishing depth quickly. A very slow figure-of-eight retrieve is normally best although if there is a lot of buzzer activity fairly fast stripping can also work well.
Be ready for takes on the drop.
Fishing Tips:
- Floating line + long leader and fish it slow; the classic buzzer approach.
- Use a very slow figure-of-eight to keep it creeping naturally.
- If buzzers are really popping, try quicker strips to suggest pupae moving/ascending.
- Stay sharp: takes often come as it sinks.
