About the Blue Quill Trout Fly

The Blue Quill is a good dry pattern that can be used throughout the season. It is upright and consistently does an excellent job on a variety of waters

It is especially effective when baetis olives and pale eateries are on the waters.

Dressings

  • Hook : 14-16.
  • Thread : Grey.
  • Tail : Pale blue dun hackle fibres.
  • Body : Quill from peacock feather 'eye', dyed pale blue dun.
  • Wing : Starling or pale blue dun points.
  • Hackle : Pale blue dun.

Medium blue dun cock hackle can be used on tail and hackle. Extra hackles maybe used in place of wings. Partridge L3B Captain Hamiliton Dry Fly Up Eye.
