About the Standby Trout Fly
On those days when nothing seems to work, you’ve tried everything in the box, but to no avail, you don’t know what the fish want, and if you did they would only start to feed on something else, does this sound familiar? At this point I try the Standby pattern, I designed this fly to represent something or nothing, a fly the fish might fine interesting, I have found it very effective when the fishing slows down but the weather conditions are right for the dry fly, just cast and drift.
