About Polar Shrimp Orange and Yellow
Primarily used when salmon have recently migrated from salt to fresh water, or for steelhead. Can be effective when river flows are turbid and you need a bright fly with more "presence."
Fly Tying Techniques
The Partridge Salar single and double hooks are designed and used by top Swedish Salmon angler Mikael Frödin.
Salar hooks feature an incurved point, fine loop 45 degree up eye and curved shank. The tapered eye is shaped to allow easy use of the Turtle Knot. The combination of new and old technology has enabled Partridge to make this type of eye available again. These hooks are perfect for the devoted fly tier as well as the serious Sea Trout and Salmon angler.
The tail of the fly is tied in at the head leaving enough length to make the tail, secure along the back of the fly with the rib - making a shellback.
Flybox's Expert Tips
Salar hooks have wide angled gapes that certainly adds stability of the flys' action in fastwater.
