About the Footballer Trout Fly
Geoffrey Bucknall was an innovative fly dress and created the Footballer. A hither to ignored stage between a bloodworm and emerger, the 'buzzer'. A style dressing that soon became a must in the stillwater fly fisherman's flybox.
Expert Tip:

Comments from other fly fishermen
I just met the bloke who created this fly! apparently he was intending to call it the bullseye but after seeing the newcastle united captain holding the fayres cup aloft he decided to call it "the footballer". - Posted by ben s on 28/09/2008
