About the Red Tag Trout Fly
Reputedly the Red Tag came from Worcester about 1850 and was original called the Worcester Gem.
It has proved over the last 150 years to be a classic pattern for both Trout and Grayling.
It is often underrated for it is a good all season trout pattern.
It certainly comes into its own from November to April for Grayling.
Expert Tip:
And hoary frosts do hang from every bough,
where freshest leaves of Summer late did grow.

Comments from other fly fishermen
I have have decent success with this fly for sea run trout, both as a dry drift and while doing a strip reteive. It shines under water running just under the surface during retreival. - Posted by Scott MacDonald on 10/06/2009
