About the Red Francis Salmon Atlantic Fly
Red Francis tubes are very popular for salmon fishing in heavy water in Iceland and the rest of the world.
It is seems to resemble a shrimp, and can be an extremely lethal fly when fishing for salmon.
Red often works best in the autumn; however it is very effective with Atlantic Salmon when fished across using short, twitching pulls specially when fishing low waters.
Expert Tip:
These Snaelda brass tubes will sink very well and are therefore heavy for casting. Preferable to use on double handed rods or large single handed rods. The 1” tubes are very good all summer but the 1 ½” in heavier water in spring and floods.
Some fishermen prefer lighter tubes tied on Aluminium tubes, there fore the most popular tubes are also tied on aluminium tubes. These are much easier to cast with single handed rods but will not sink as well. Dr. Jonas Jonasson.
