This pattern is reputed to have been born in a tackle shop where a visiting minister was asked for some hair from his accompanying Golden Retriever’s tail. This was used to form part of the wing of a fly being tied in the premises. The name of the dog was supposedly Garry hence the name Garry dog.

Munro's Killer is a widely known and enormously successful salmon fly. It is regarded as a good summer and late season pattern.

Ally's Shrimp Cascade was reputedly originally tied as a joke. However, it has turned out to be the supreme fly on several rivers over the past few years.

This is the hairwing version of the traditional Blue Charm featherwing salmon fly. Reputedly orginated by Colin Simpson. It is one of the earliest and simplest of the hairwing patterns, with a nice action; and is widely used as a summer fly pattern on rivers.

The Hairy Mary JC on a big mouth double is a modern day variant of one of the earliest hairwing patterns, dating back to around 1950, when it was in use on northern rivers such as the Ness and Conon. Its design is attributed to Johnny Reidpath, an Inverness tackle merchant. In its simplicity, this fly is in marked contrast to the highly complex creations of the previous century, yet no less effective in luring salmon.

All the flies are divided into major and minor categories which are best for different conditions/times of year. See the text at the top of each category and sub-category to help choose which flies are most appropriate for you.

Choose a fly that you are interested in and then pick the hook size from those that we have available.

Available pack sizes will vary depending on which fly is chosen, and which hook size.

The most popular flies in their most popular sizes are held in our local stock and can be delivered immediately.

Less popular types are held at a remote store and therefore take 5 – 10 days to deliver.

All flies are tied to a very high standard using the best materials.

Pricing and Pack sizes

For a limited time, we are offering a 10% discount to all new customers.

The minimum pack size is 3 flies.

Packs of 12 are 20% cheaper per fly then packs of 3.

Free Delivery on orders over £20. (higher for overseas deliveries)
