Diawl Bach

The Diawl Bach is a very effective 'modern' classic pattern, that has very quickly become a standard in stillwater flyboxes.
This simple dressing is a killer that can be fished on any line, from floating to fast sinker and at most depths.
It can be fished up and "on the hang" on a fast sinker or fished slowly on a floating line.
Epoxy Buzzer Olive

This fly works wonders on stillwaters, a proven favourite fishing technique employed is using a floating line and a very slow retrieve; with as long a leader as you are comfortable (18ft)
Because of its weight the fly cuts rapidly through the surface film and gets to fishing depth quickly. Be aware of takes on the drop.
A very slow figure-of-eight retrieve is normally best; occasionally if there is a lot of buzzer activity fairly fast stripping can work well.

This Olive Damsel is a definite "must have" pattern in any and all stillwater flyboxes.
Its alluring movement in the water has proved it to be a real killer. The natural nymphs are not the quickest of swimmers but they do waggle their tails as they move
This fly certainly works its magic throughout the season.
What ever time of year find the feed level; vary the retrieve from short sharp tugs to a gentle constant figure of 8 and look out for the takes!

Epoxy buzzer 3D bloodworm pattern is very effective and are often bested fished drifting on the wind currents from a floating or sink-tip line.
A buzzer pattern containing a large amount of Red colour, designed to imitate the mature Bloodworm, or early stage of a Chironomids pupa part of the staple food source for trout.

One should never leave home without a shrimp pattern in the flybox. They are readily available trout food throughout the season.
Most of the lakes and stillwaters have abundant shrimp populations living in the shallow areas of a lake in amongst the bottom vegetation.
Best colours are light olive to dark olive green and bodies are covered with a semi-translucent exoskeleton that gives them the segmented appearance.

An outstandingly successful and radiant pattern with a movement that is so tantilizing to predatory trout.
This fly has worked its magic all over the world. It has caught trout,not only in its original intended enviroment (UK Small stillwaters)but also in rivers and lakes in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and South America.
I havn't had any reports about it working in Asia or Antartica as yet.

The Muddler is a remarkably versatile pattern.
