About the Stewart's Olive Millionaire Taddy Trout Fly

Developed for rivers of Eastern Cape. Best used an hour before dark - with sinking, intermediate or floating line. My customers in Natal have caught monsters with it. I used it in NZ in fast water rivers with great success.

Expert Tip:

I discovered that as well as an excellent river fly, I had created a great still water fly. It represents ANYTHING a fish likes!

Creator of this trout fly: Harry Stewart

Tier of this trout fly: Harry Stewart

Country of origin for this trout fly: South Africa

This trout fly is designed to be fished on Dams & Reservoirs, Rivers & Streams, Still Water fish

Dressings

  • Hook : Size 8.
  • Silk : Olive.
  • Body : Strip of Oilive Mink.
  • Tail : Olive Marabou with 3 or 4 lengths of different coloured strong, narrow, flat mylar/flashabou.

Weight problem was solved by using beads, copper, brass, silver or gold. I started off with a a strip of mink as a tail, plus mink wound around hook for body. I wanted to represent the tadpole. However it prove to be sluggish - I needed more mobility so I substituted mink tail with long marabou adding strands of flashabou.

Comments from other fly fishermen

Dear Sir, I am from South Africa, now living in Dallas, Usa. I lived in East London and used to buy all my flies from Harry Stewart. I donated all my tackle to a good friend there as i thought i could get all my tackle in this big state, i was wrong the flies here are no where near what i am used to fishing with. I need my millionaire taddy olive like a druggie who needs his fix. Can you post to dallas and are postage fees very expensive. Chris Burke - Posted by on 12/02/2009

Yes it's not a problem, we post worldwide, and it's just £3.35 for postage to the US. - Posted by on 23/06/2009
