About the Pink Lady Trout Fly
The LaBranche family originally used a 'King of the Waters' dry fly which had a red body.
However, the red dye washed out quickly and the fly, now pink, worked better. Thereafter, George LaBranche tied it with pink floss and I believe, the 'Lady' part was named for his wife.

Profile of Allan Podell
Although I grew up in Brooklyn, NY, (USA), I spent almost every summer in the Catskills at various places along the Neversink River. Unfortunately, I didn't fish the other Catskill rivers or meet other fly fishers/fly tiers. In fact, I did not know anyone who fished with flies or tied flies and had to learn these arts on my own. That made for an elongated learning curve.
