About the Goulden's Favourite Mayfly Trout Fly

In 1935 T J Hanna first created 'Goulden's Favourite Mayfly', reputedly with the support and suggestions of Sergeant Goulden , Royal Irish Constabulary, a renown dry fly fisherman.

Dressings

• Hook : 8 - 10 longshank
• Thread : Dark green
• Tail : Three fibres from cock pheasant tail
• Body : Green raffia
• Hackles : First hackle - large red cock. Second Hackle - hot orange
• Head hackle : Grey mallard, colour olive

Originally the body was translucent yellow-olive thin rubber sheet.
